For me you are essential to the pro-peloton and we need you back ASAP. may you forever ride with the wind at your back and the sun on your face

Charlie--My husband and I follow the Tour de France among other races and cyclists, including you, regularly. He emailed the article you wrote about your current situation to me.

Although I have never responded to a blog before this, I feel compelled to share this with you: what you describe about your current struggle reminds me of my own Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I have it with Fibromyalgia, but if you are not feeling unexplained pain all over, then I doubt you have Fibro. But--has anyone discussed CFS with you? I describe it as feeling like you're coming out of surgery, the meds haven't worn off yet, and you can't quite move as much as you want, no matter how hard you try.

It can be brought on by physical or mental trauma (at least Fibro can, and I think the same is true for CFS, although I am no expert). My CFS is so bad that I had to leave work two years ago on disability. Prior to that, I was a "Type A" "super-driver personality", and was actually known for my energy. A sudden death in my family complicated by other factors seems to have been my trigger.

Especially since no doctor has been able to discover anything by standard tests with you, someone who understands these so-called "invisible" disorder(s) might be helpful. I hope this has been helpful. Please don't give up until you find out what this is all about--and then don't give up on yourself! You have my best wishes. (Sorry if this is too long for a blog--I'm new at this!)
