Hello dear readers,
My name is Ann-Leonie Wiechmann. I’m 15 years old and have been in love with cycling for seven years now. I have been riding for the Canyon Young Heroes Team for two seasons now. Thanks to Jan Brockhoff I became aware of the initiative and simply had to be a part of it. The joy I felt when I had the letter of acceptance from Canyon was overwhelming and I just couldn’t wait to sit on my new bike!
In my first year I got a great deal of impressions. It began with the superbly equipped bike, followed by an exciting weekend in Italy where the team was introduced to us once again. In addition, I was able to get to know Erik Zabel personally for the first time and I learnt a few good tips and tricks from him.
My personal highlights in 2010 were obviously the German championships where I was able to be up there competing at the front. It was the first time that I felt pressure before a race and I wasn’t released from that pressure until I took my hands of the bars to celebrate my win. I was also over the moon that I was able to finish 3rd in the points race and time-trial respectively.
It was a great time and I’m looking forward to hopefully achieving similar success in 2011.
