Star-studded team to line up at the Vuelta

This weekend the 67th installment of the Vuelta gets underway. The 3-week Tour of Spain (18.08 – 09.09. 2012) will include 13 mountain stages, 6 flat stages, a 40 kilometer individual time-trial and a team time-trial.

Under the leadership of team captain Joaquim Rodríguez Katusha will be sending its best riders to the prestigious stage race.
The squad will include Pavel Brutt, Xavier Florencio, Mikhail Ignatyev, Alberto Losada, Denis Menchov, Daniel Moreno, Gatis Smukulis and Angel Vicioso. Sports directors Valerio Piva, Dmitriy Konyshev and Claudio Cozzi will accompany the riders during the event.

The race opens on Saturday 18th August with a team time-trial of 16.2 kilometers.
This will give the team an immediate opportunity to demonstrate the strengths of the brand new Speedmax CF Evo – and above all the Russian time-trial champion Denis Menchov.

Joaquim “Purito” Rodríguez can count on the support of his teammates Denis Menchov, who won this event in 2005 and 2007, and Dani Moreno, who dominated this year’s Vuelta a Burgos.
The pros will have to overcome a grueling 3000 kilometers on their team bikes Ultimate CF SLX and Aeroad CF. The brand new Speedmax CF Evo will also once again demonstrate its capabilities during the 40 kilometer individual time-trial, which takes place on 29th August.
