Trofimov: “We’re really satisfied”
In spite of the demanding course the Katusha riders quickly got into their stride and whizzed across the finishing line on the Speedmax CF in a time of 22.24 minutes.

This proved to be a fast time since Katusha was just 19 seconds down on the winners Team Sky, finishing in a very creditable fourth place.

“We are very satisfied with our performance”, said Yuriy Trofimov after the race. “We just missed out on the podium and are placed directly behind the big teams who are aiming for overall victory.”

Piva: “We worked for Trofimov “
Even the Sports Director Valerio Piva was impressed by his team’s performance. “Our boys did a great job. They are all more or less at the same level and highly motivated. It’s our aim to achieve a high overall finish with Yuriy Trofimov and I think we did a lot to help his cause today.”

The best placed Katusha rider overall is currently Luca Paolini back in 17th place 19 seconds down on the leading rider. In the mass sprint on stage one on Saturday Paolini finished 12th.
